1) First, put your windows xp installation CD in your computer's CD-drive or DVD-drive.
2) Reboot your computer.
3)When your computer reboots you will see a message on a black screen 'press any key to boot from the CD'.
4) Press any key.
5) Then setup will start to inspect your system. It may take several seconds or a minute.
6) After that you will be given two option:-' Repair you current OS' and 'Install a fresh copy of XP'.
7) Select the option to install fresh copy of XP.
8) Then a windows agreement will appear which you have to accept in order to install XP.
9) Now you have to select the hard drive partition on which you want to install XP.
10) Select the option that you want your hard drive to get formatted with.
11) After format is complete, copying of the files will start automatically.
12) After this, your computer will reboot itself.
13) This time don't press any key when the message appears 'press any key to boot from the CD'.
14) Your installation will continue.
15) After a minute or two a window box will appear in which you have to enter basic things, such as, entering the time, giving you OS a name, setting up administrator password and the most important thing, entering the 25 digit windows XP CD- key that you got with your CD.
16) When installation is completed, your computer will reboot.
AND YOU'RE DONE.
Note:- your computer may reboot several times during installation, so, don't panic.
